Alexis Ramos - Mejia

Alexis Ramos-Mejia began painting at an early age in the city of Lima, Peru. His love for the visual arts began at the Museum of Fine Arts, where he started studying art at the age of four. At five, Alexis won his first national competition in painting.
As a child Alexis was taken into the Andes by his mother, a young lawyer who taught peasants how to be Justices of the Peace. While there, he saw the hopelessness of these people, their lack of purpose and the injustice of their existence. These experiences have greatly influenced Alexis’ painting, thematically and aesthetically.
In preparation for admission to the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Catholic University of Lima, Alexis studied drawing, painting and sculpting at prestigious studios in Lima, Peru.
Since then, Alexis has shown his paintings at exhibitions in Lima, Toronto and London. In addition to creating his own work, Alexis enjoys sharing his love of art with others by teaching art workshops.
Alexis currently lives with his wife and daughter in Barrie, Ontario.
